OK- So, when we’re stressed, we begin to forget our blessings, amazing people, things, and surroundings that are in our lives. The energy of Gratitude brings us back to what’s most important and has the power and potential to dissolve the stress we may be experiencing. It’s important to remember that gratitude has to be inclusive rather than exclusive. It’s easy to be grateful for good fortune or when the sun is shining. If we only feel gratitude when it serves our desires, this is not true thankfulness. Gratitude is most powerful, regardless of our circumstances, when there’s bad news and when life doesn’t go as it should. Gratitude brings us into the depths of who we are and has the power to remind us that we are one with this great mystery we call life. On one hand, living in a state of stress inhibits our ability to access gratitude, and on the other hand, gratitude is the antidote to stress! As a person who lives in gratitude and has done so for my entire adult life, being diagnosed with cancer totally turned my world upside down. It was the very diagnosis that woke me up to deeper gratitude and I feel gratitude was catalytic in the eventual remission of the tumor…along with the intense chemotherapy regimen. Ironically, it is sometimes this kind of life situation that awakens us to gratitude. How can you use the current situation in your life to bolster your ability to find true thankfulness? Here's what we've found: Awareness and gratitude go hand and hand, and each time we practice tuning in to our breath, and making an effort to be fully present, it can do wonders for our ability to connect with authentic gratitude. The next time you’re on the yoga mat, awaken gratitude with the intention to be more aware of the abundant life force that flows through us. With practice, we're able to live in gratitude and have an 'attitude of gratitude' as our trusty companion through the thick and thin of life. Exercise: The Gratitude Circle Shower your life with gratitude...start with your breath...move to your heart...then your perfect health...if there is someone next to you, see them smiling, your children, dog, cat, the roof over your head...the abundance in your life...how far can you take this ripple of gratitude? What's wrong is all around us! What's right is all around us too! It's your choice...what will you focus on today? Begin today and every day with gratitude! Talk soon, Ro
