There's a split second in practice when you feel it — that shift from doing yoga to something much more real.
Then class ends. And it slips away
The Student Yoga Study is what happens when you stop chasing that moment and learn to create it.
8 weekends. 20 people. Raleigh, NC. Starting September 25th, 2026.
Whether you want to go deeper into your own practice — or teach others — this is your next step.
RYT-200 certified upon completion through Yoga Alliance.

You've been practicing for years.
You love how yoga makes you feel — but by the time you hit traffic or check your phone, it's gone. You're back to the same patterns. The same reactions. The same version of yourself you've been trying to outgrow.
Maybe you've even done a teacher training before. Walked away with a certificate — but not the deep understanding you were looking for.
That feeling that something's missing? That's not a flaw.
That's the doorway.
The Student Yoga Study is a complete transformation system built on psychology, neuroscience, and 20+ years of real-world application. It bridges the gap between the ancient wisdom of yoga and the life you're actually living right now.
Whether you want to go deeper into your own practice — or step into teaching — this is the training that delivers both.
About 70% of our students don't come in wanting to teach.
They come because they've been practicing for years and they know — they can feel — that yoga has more to offer than what they've found so far.
They want the depth. The understanding. The tools that actually travel with them off the mat and into real life.
Here's who tends to show up:
THE DEDICATED PRACTITIONER
You've been practicing at Gratitude or somewhere else for years. You're getting a taste of transformation and you want the structure and the depth to fully understand what's happening — and why.
THE EXPERIENCED SEEKER
You've done trainings before but something was missing. You want to bring it all together into something more complete and more powerful.
THE LIFE TRANSITIONER
Something big has shifted — a relationship, a career, a loss, a new chapter. You're looking for something meaningful to anchor to. You discover this transforms everything.
No matter where you're starting from — you will not leave the same person who walked in.
That's not a promise. That's what keeps happening.
You don't need to believe in anything mystical to experience what happens in this room.
You don't need to chant in Sanskrit, sit in lotus pose for three hours, or subscribe to any particular tradition.
What you do need is an openness to the idea that there's more to you than your thoughts, your history, and the roles you play for other people.
Ken Wilber — one of the most important philosophers of our time — describes spirituality not as a belief system, but as a direct experience of something larger than the individual self.
That's what we're after.
The Student Yoga Study honors the spiritual dimension of yoga while keeping it completely practical and grounded in real life. We preserve what has survived thousands of years because it works — not because it's tradition.
You'll never be asked to believe anything.
You'll just be invited to feel it for yourself.
And in our experience? That's usually enough.

"It made me a better human. And it made me feel things that a human should feel in their life. It was so much more than a 200-hour yoga teacher training."
— Lisa C., Raleigh NC
"Once you commit — it really is life-changing and life-giving. If something is stirring within you, that's your sign."
— Caroline M., Raleigh NC
"This training impacted my life in ways I never imagined. Since I was eight years old, I suffered from severe clinical depression. My doctor suggested reducing my anxiety medication because my body no longer needed it. Four weeks later, I completely stopped taking it — something I firmly believe was thanks to those intense weekends of yoga, meditation, and pranayama."
— Diana G.
"Who even is 'I'? If I strip away the thoughts, the emotions, the body, and the armor, what remains? For the first time, I truly began to open. Once you awaken, you can't go back to sleep."
— Mary
"I am in better physical shape than I have ever been. My family relationships are stronger, and we interact with each other better and more lovingly. I feel more comfortable in my own body, mind, and skin than I knew possible."
— Craig R.

Roman Szpond — Ro — has spent more than 20 years owning and operating yoga studios across Massachusetts and North Carolina.
But that's not why he built this training.
He built it because he spent decades searching — teacher training after teacher training, book after book, system after system — looking for something that brought it all together. The psychology. The neuroscience. The philosophy. The physical practice. The emotional depth.
It didn't exist in one place.
So he built it.
With a background in exercise physiology, psychology, Eastern and Western philosophy, and an E-RYT 500 designation, Ro has trained hundreds of teachers and guided thousands of students through transformation that goes far beyond the mat.
He lives in Raleigh with his wife Felicia and their two kids, Hudson and Harper.
He'll see you in the room.
Roman didn't arrive at this work through a smooth, linear path.
He arrived through brokenness.
Emotional turmoil. Physical pain. Mental distraction. Years of searching across teacher trainings, books, systems, and traditions — looking for something that brought it all together into one coherent, practical, life-changing whole.
It didn't exist.
So after 20+ years of owning and operating studios, training hundreds of teachers, and synthesizing everything from exercise physiology to Eastern philosophy to modern neuroscience — he built it.
The Student Yoga Study is the training he wished had existed when he needed it most.
Not a curriculum. Not a certificate program. A complete system for human transformation — built from the inside out, refined weekend by weekend, student by student, breakthrough by breakthrough.
This is The Gratitude Way.
And it works because it was born from the real thing — not theory, not tradition for tradition's sake, but from a man who needed it to work.
Because his life depended on it.

This isn't a lecture series. It isn't a workshop where you take notes and go home.
Every weekend is a full immersive experience — physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual — built around what we call The 6-Phase System.
Each phase builds on the last. Each weekend builds on the one before it. By the end of eight weekends, you don't just understand transformation — you've lived it.
Here's what moves through your body every single session:
PHASE 1 — INTEGRATION
You arrive scattered. We bring you home. This phase moves you from distraction to direction — from wherever life left you that week to full presence in the room.
PHASE 2 — FORCE OF LIFE
Breath is the bridge between your body and your emotions. This phase unlocks the power of pranayama to release what's stuck and ignite what's been dormant.
PHASE 3 — BODY OF WORK
The foundational movements that build real strength, real flexibility, and real confidence — from the ground up.
PHASE 4 — CORE & SPINAL TONING
Your physical and energetic center. This phase releases deep-held tension and begins to access the parts of you that have been bracing for impact your whole life.
PHASE 5 — INVERSIONS & HIP OPENERS
Turn your world upside down. Release years of stored emotional weight. This phase is where breakthroughs happen most often — and most unexpectedly.
PHASE 6 — FINISHING & INTEGRATION
The transformation cycle completes. You prepare to carry this new version of yourself back into the world — into your relationships, your work, your life.
This is the work.
Not perfecting your triangle pose.
Not memorizing Sanskrit.
Learning to feel what you've been avoiding — and discovering that on the other side of that feeling is the version of yourself you've been searching for.

Modern neuroscience has caught up to what ancient yogis knew thousands of years ago.
And the data is striking.
Conscious breathing directly activates your parasympathetic nervous system — reducing cortisol by up to 23% and measurably improving emotional regulation. Not as a side effect. As a direct, repeatable result.
Studies show that consistent yoga practice develops significantly better emotional intelligence, improved stress resilience, and an enhanced ability to process difficult experiences without being overwhelmed.
Dr. Bessel van der Kolk — whose decades of research inform much of what we do in this training — proved that the body holds what the mind refuses to process. And that the body is also where healing begins.
Viktor Frankl, writing from the darkest human conditions imaginable, showed us that the space between stimulus and response is where our freedom lives.
David Hawkins mapped the levels of human consciousness — and demonstrated that authentic inner power operates on a completely different frequency than force.
This is the reading list. This is the science. This is the foundation.
We don't ask you to take any of it on faith.
We give you the tools to feel it in your own body — and let your own experience be the proof.

Here's something nobody tells you when they're selling you a yoga teacher training.
The curriculum matters. The methodology matters. The teacher matters.
But the people sitting next to you on that mat?
They might matter most of all.
Every Student Yoga Study draws a fascinating, diverse group of human beings united by one thing — the courage to show up for something real.
You'll sit next to parents who want to show up better for their families. Professionals who are tired of operating from stress and fear. People navigating major life transitions. Experienced practitioners who know there's more and are finally ready to find it.
What happens between those people — in the conversations, in the breathwork, in the moments after a breakthrough when someone else in the room sees exactly what just happened to you — that's not something you can manufacture.
It just happens when the right people commit to the right container.
And these connections don't end on the last weekend.
They tend to last for years.
One of our students put it simply after her first weekend —
"There was definite divine intervention. Each pair ended up with something really deep in common. More than just surface stuff. It was like — wow. Like you've been through that. I've been through that."
That's what's waiting for you in this room.
This is what the next eight weekends look like.
